Shuttles. - A shuttle comprises a solid portion adapted to take the shuttde device, and a weft receptacle detachably secured to the solid portion and containing a central weft peg, the solid portion acting as a carrier for the weft receptacle. As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the receptacle 4 for the cop bottom is soldered on an ordinary peg 1, the cop being completely enclosed by a cover 6 adapted to grip resiliently the part 4, a pin 5 taking into a notch 9 in the cover 6. The peg 1 has a bent portion 2<a> having a conical end 3 recessed at 2. The cover 6 has a projection 10 similar to the portion 2a, the parts 10, 2a being adapted to be received within bushed apertures 13, Figs. 3 and 7, in the solid carrier part 12 of the shuttle, a wire spring 15 holding the parts in position. The solid portion 12 moves in the shuttle box 18, Fig. 8, the weft receptacle projecting as shown so that it may be removed for replenishment without removing the part 12. The weft passes through an aperture 7 in the conical end of the cover, which is covered with velvet or other fabric to tension the weft, and thence to an eye 11. In a modification, the receptacle has longitudinal extensions adapted to be received in spring clips projecting from the solid part 12. Picking-motions. - The solid part, 12 of the shuttle may be shaped at its lower part to be engaged by discs 17, Fig. 7, having a wedging action on the shuttle.
