Abstract

298,192. Jahr, R. Oct. 5, 1927, [Convention date]. Optical instruments. - An instrument for examining bodily cavities, particularly the bladder, and comprising a tubular sheath R enclosing a tube containing the optical system and having a terminal glow lamp G and an inspection opening L, is provided with a mirror S movable about a lateral pivot A by a pair of wires D so that, by movement of the mirror and rotation of the instrument, all parts of the cavity may be inspected. The mirror S is preferably made of metal such as nickel and may be polished for reflection on one or both sides according as the objective is at an obtuse angle or at right angles to the path of the rays through the tube R. In the latter case the aperture L is elongated and the tube containing the optical system is movable longitudinally into, and held by a detent in, either of two positions corresponding to the particular side of the mirror to be used. The wires D are enclosed in tubes such as B and are actuated by a spindle rotated by milled heads at the outer end of the instrument. During insertion into the bodily cavity the mirror S is turned down flush with the tube R.
