Abstract

297,612. Lane, J. B. Jan. 3, 1928. Projectiles.-Relates to airgun bullets or the like having a front part B of smaller diameter than the bore C of the gun and separated by a waist H from a rear part D of larger diameter than the bore and adapted to be fitted into a slightly enlarged mouth F of the breech of the gun. When the shot is discharged, the rear part is wedged into the bore and forms a tight fit therein. According to the invention, the bullet is provided with a short base extension E of small diameter, enabling the bullet to be forced by a finger into the gun barrel, thereby ensuring the tight fit before the shot is discharged and relieving the propellent gas from this initial work. This is stated to increase the range of the bullet. The usual hollow G is formed in! the bullet.
