Abstract

297,125. Oexmann, H. Sept. 15, 1928. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 17, 1928]. Processes; moulding buttons.-In the manufacture of buttons &c. from powdered material by the compression of intermediate tablets, the tablets are formed by pressing the powder into apertures in a metal plate the tablets being securely held therein and protected from damage during colouring &c. As shown, powdered material 6, Fig. 1, is freed by a piston 2 from a container 1 into a cavity 5 in a metal plate 4 and is compressed against a top die 3 to form a tablet 7, Fig. 2 which is firmly held by the plate 4. The plate with the tablet is transferred to a finishing-press having upper and lower dies 9, 8, Fig. 4, of appropriate form. A cam 10 on the upper die strips the frame 4 from the finished button &c. The plate 4 is preferably formed of light metal such as electron and may be furnished with a number of cavities.
