Abstract
297,114. Kali-Industrie Akt.-Ges., Thorssell, C. T., and Kristensson, A. Sept. 16, 1927, [Convention date]. Materials for purifying.-Hydrogen sulphide is removed from gases by treatment with a suspension of basic ferric salts in a ferric salt solution, prepared by oxidation of the ferrous salt as by nitric acid. A basic ferric chloride in very fine suspension and corresponding to the formula FeCl3 .6 Fe (OH)3 is obtained by treating ferrous chloride in this way. Absorption of hydrogen sulphide effects the separation of pure sulphur which is filtered or centrifuged off, the ferrous chloride solution remaining being again oxidized with nitric acid.
