Abstract
296,510. Deutsch, L., and Pfeifer, F. A. June 29, 1927. Gear-boxes, cleaning. - Apparatus for cleaning containers, particularly transmission casings of motor vehicles, comprises a tank 1 for cleaning liquid, a pump carrier by the tank, a conduit 15 for conveying liquid to the casing being cleaned, a conduit 20 for removing liquid from the casing and a strainer 23 for separating solid matter or heavy oils from the liquid, which is used repeatedly. The pump 5, shown as a rotary pump, is driven through bevel gearing from an electric motor 13 and is supported by a discharge conduit 4 secured to a base plate 3 forming a cover for the tank 1. The conduit 4 is connected to the flexible hose 15, which is provided with a valvecontrolled nozzle 16 for insertion in the casing being cleaned. The conduit is also connected to an injector 17 provided with an inlet 18 through which liquid is discharged to create suction in the flexible hose 20. Liquid is thereby withdrawn from the casing and discharged through a pipe 21 against the strainer 23, which is kept clear of solid matter or heavy oils by the force of the jet. Liquid from the tank can enter the pump through the inlet port 14 only by way of the strainer 23, so that before being used again it is partly filtered.
