Abstract
295,309. Wistoft, S. May 9, 1927. Delivery of articles stored in piles or rows.- In coin-freed apparatus of the type having a pivotable door carrying a receiver into which articles are successively fed from a shoot and from which they can be taken, when the door is open, the door, during its opening and closing movement, shutting off the remaining articles in the shoot, the articles 16, Fig. 3, are fed along an horizontal shoot to a receiver 22 on a door pivoted at 4, the receiver being open at the top and on one side. Its back wall 20 is lower than the front wall 17 so that the door can be swung outwardly through an opening 8 in the wall 1 of the casing by pulling a ring 23. A stop plate 21 rigid with the door holds back the remaining articles in the shoot, when the door is opened. In a modification, Fig. 4, the door is pivoted at its upper edge and the receiver opens downwardly to receive articles 16 from a vertical pile fed upwardly. A curved flange 29 holds hack the pile, when the door is open to allow the article in the receiver to drop into a tray 31. In the form shown in Fig. 5, the door has two receivers opening in opposite directions and receiving articles from vertical piles 3, 3<1> fed downwardly and upwardly respectively. Flanges 37, 38 on the door hold back the pile according as the upper or lower ring 23 is pulled, and a flange 39 is provided on the shoot 3<1> to support the article in the lower receiver, when the articles in the upper receiver is being delivered. In the form shown in Fig. 9, the door swings on a vertical pivot and is provided with a recess 11 to receive articles from an horizontal shoot 3, an extension 14 holding back the remaining articles, when the door is open to allow the article to drop to a tray 48. In another form the door is constructed similarly to that shown in Fig. 2, but is arranged on a vertical pivot to receive articles from a vertical pile. In the form shown in Figs. 10 and 11, a shaft 4 rotatable by a handle 57 carries a plate 49 arranged behind the wall 1 of the casing and provided with a receiver 52 open at the top and front, the bottom of the receiver being sloped upwards and backwards. The plate 49 works between two stops 60, 63 and, when it is turred to contact with the stops 63, it transfers an article received from a shoot 3 to a position opposite an opening 61 in the wall 1. The article then falls through the opening 61 owing to the inclined bottom of the receiver. A flange 58 on the plate 49 closes the shoot 3 when the receiver 52 is moved away from the shoot. The plate 49 may be provided with more than one pocket or receiver and the wall 1 with corresponding openings 61.
