Fluids, regulating flow of; dirt traps.-A regulating and silencing device for use with ball or float valves comprises a hollow metal cylindrical member A for insertion in the supply connection, the reduced inner end B being closed and having lateral inlet perforations, and the outer end terminating in a perforated detachable cap D which encloses a porous wad E of wool or perforated rubber The porous wad contracts or expands with varying water pressure so as to give a quiet regulated flow. The annular space between the reduced end B and the inner surface of the inlet pipe acts as a collecting chamber for dirt or lead shavings.
