Abstract

294,510. Gribojedoff, N. von. April 21, 1927. Lubricant conveyed by fluid.-The power and pump pistons 10, 13 of a double-acting internal combustion engine rotate with the shaft 2 inside the fixed cylinder 1. A carrier 8 slidable in slots 7 in the shaft and slots 15 in the piston 13 moves with the power piston, the ends of the carrier working in a helical groove in the cylinder: the pistons and carrier reciprocate a number of times for each complete revolution. Mixture from the carburettor enters the hollow shaft by the pipe 21 and channels 22 in the cylinder and cylinder covers thereby cooling the cylinder; it flows through the slots 7 to the interior of the piston 13. Lubricating oil is added to the combustible mixture and enters the pistons through the slots 7: it is thrown out centrifugally against the piston interior, where it is finely sub-divided so that no drops can impinge on the sparking plugs. The fly wheel acts as a fan to draw out the exhaust gases and cooling air. It rotates in a chamber offering a large cooling surface, for the gases; any oil in these gases is received in a trap.
