293,757. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. July 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Addition to 293,316. Carbohydrate esters. - Air is removed from starch, &c., previous to esterification, by treatment according to the process of the parent Specification, with a current of gas or vapour which is absorbed by the acidylating liquid. A vacuum is preferably applied to assist the removal of the air. Suitable gases or vapours are pyridine, ammonia, formaldehyde, acetic acid, and water vapour.
