Yarns, warping and beaming etc.; creel frames; guiding and tensioning yarns.- Cops, cross-wound cones, or other yarn supplies C are supported on wooden carriers 15 having axial bores 16 to fit spindles 20 on swinging arms 21 having hubs 22 turning loosely on the rear uprights 3 of a V-shaped creel, described and shown in plan view in Fig. 1. The cops &c. are arranged in pairs with the yarn y, from one connected to the other cop of the pair for continuous warping &o., the axes of the cops &c. being inclined and intersecting at a point approximately at the entrances of tension devices 30 through which the, yarns from the cops pass. The arms 21 can be swung into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3 to facilitate replacement of cops, and enable the warping &c. to be made continuous. The arms 21 are supported by vertically-adjustable collars 26 having lugs serving as stops for the arms 21. Tapered lugs on the ribs of the arms 21 fit in V-shaped depressions on the collars when the arms are in active position. The carriers 15 have grooves 17 to receive lips &c. 23 on the spindles 20 and grooves 18 at their base ends to receive a few turns of yarn from the cops to facilitate joining the yarn from one cop to that from another. The yarns pass around guiding-hooks 36 on brackets 33 clamped to uprights 4 of the creel frame. thence between pairs of tension-discs 31 around pins 32 and guide-hooks 37 to porcelain eyes in horizontal separators 40, thence to section beams for slashing or weaving, or on to ball warpers. Electric fans 43, arranged at each side of the creel, oscillate and blow currents of air on the yarns to prevent fluff &c. settling thereon.
