Abstract
293,367. Nilson, F. R. March 28, 1927. Vaporizing by heat; vapours, delivering.-Apparatus for killing rats and other vermin in their burrows or holes comprises a chamber connected at one end directly to the exhaust outlet of an internal-combustion engine and at the other to a hose having a nozzle for insertion in the animals' burrow, means being provided in the chamber for the generation of poisonous fumes. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the tubular chamber a connected to the exhaust pipe of the engine is fitted with an outlet hose b and nozzle c, and with a funnel d charged with sulphur or other chemical and having an outlet d<1> bent in the direction of flow of the gases. In a modification, Fig. 3, the exhaust pipe a passes directly through the chamber f so as to heat the contained' sulphur, and is fitted with branches g, h opening into said chamber so that part of the exhaust gases may be directed therethrough by manipulation of a valve i. A filling aperture j is normally closed by a stopper In a further modification the whole of the gases are passed through the chamber f, the heating pipe being omitted.
