Abstract
293,164. Cooper, A. J. May 19, 1927. Moulding walls in situ.-Walls are cast in situ between opposed tiers of shuttering, at least three on each side, arranged so that the lowest tier may be swung to a new position on the top tier, allowing sufficient time for the lowest portion of concrete to set before removing the lowest shutters, even in walls of small perimeter. The shutters are provided with aligned angle-bars 2A having upper lugs 12A for engagement with upper cross-ties 39A and lower adjustable clips 10A for engagement with slots in lower crossties. The flanges of the angles are slotted and carry sliding bolts 7A, and the top edges of the angles are notched to receive bolts 5A. Radius rods 3A are provided of about the same length as the angle-bars and other shorter radius rods 4A are also provided, the rods being connected as shown in Fig. 2, the lower 3A connecting the bolt 7A on the lowest shutter with a bolt 6A on a shorter rod 4B, which is secured to the bolt 5B resting on the top of the second tier. the second radius rod 3B connecting the bolts 7B and 7C on the other shutters. After casting to the depth of the three tiers of shutters, the clip 10A of the lowest shutter is disengaged from the cross-tie, and the angle 2A slid downwards to disengage the lug 12A, the bottom tier being then turned on the radius rods about the bolts 5B and on the bolts 7A about its own axis to a new position superimposed upon the tier 2C. The rods are then reconnected, as shown in Fig. 4, to agree with the connections shown in Fig. 2 for a further raising, after the next course has been cast. The distance-pieces may be flat slats or formed as shown in Fig. 6, having a main portion with upturned ends to receive the detachable and adjustable perforated ends 38. Four-tier shuttering may be employed as shown in Fig. 8, the radius rods 3 used in this case being all approximately of the same length and equal to the width of the shutters. The lowest tier is swung up about the pivot pins 15 and rotated on its axis to its new position, and the rods are reconnected so that, after the next course is cast, the tier 1B may be raised. The walls may be recessed or provided with projections by the provision of perforated adjusting rods 30 to be used in conjunction with the radius rods, Fig. 13. The top tiers of shutters may be supported in inclined position by rods 47 to form a shoot for the concrete.
