Fungicides ; insecticides.-Colloidal fungicides and insecticides are produced by mixing in presence of a jelly-forming agent reagents which will produce the dispersed product, converting the mixture to a jelly, and removing the soluble salt. The salt may be removed by washing with water or by allowing the jelly to effloresce, and the jelly may be dissolved when required for use. In the examples colloidal sulphur is produced from sodium. potassium, or ammonium pentasulphide and sulphuric acid in presence of gelatine, and from calcium pentasulphide and hydrochloric acid in presence of gelatine; and lead arsenate is produced from lead nitrate, arsenic acid, and caustic soda in presence of glue; and it is stated that copper arsenite may be prepared from copper sulphate and sodium arsenite, and calcium arsenate from calcium chloride and sodium arsenate in a similar manner.
