Abstract

292,708. Bettles, J. W. E. March 30, 1927. Gratings for flooring, treads, and for reinforcing concrete floors, roads, and other structures, are formed of flanged sinuous or zigzag metal members of channel or angle-section, Fig. 1, secured together by welding, riveting, or otherwise. The flanges of adjacent members may point in opposite directions, the webs being alternately in contact, Fig. 3, and separated, Fig. 2; or the flanges may point in the same direction, Fig. 5. The rivets pass through tubular distance-pieces. The gratings may be provided with a surround or frame of flat or other shaped bars which may be deeper than the grating bars.
