708,792. Floors, walls, ceilings. NATIONAL STEEL CORPORATION. Aug. 27, 1952 [Sept. 11, 1951], No. 21536/52. Class 20 (4). [Also in Groups XXXII and XXXIII] A nailable metal floor consists of a series of elongated, inverted-channel section, sheet metal members 11 arranged side-by-side in slightly spaced apart relationship on cross-members 12 which are supported on side members 13, each channel section member 11 comprising an upper deck portion 16, formed with transverse reinforcing ribs 25, and side webs 20 and 21 having inwardly turned lower edges 22 and 23. Each side web 20 is formed with a pair of nail-bending ribs 40 and 41 which form, with complementarily curved ribs 43 and 44 on the side web 21 of the adjacent member 11, a tortuous nailing groove 27 into which nails 45 may be driven and firmly secured. The members 11 are held correctly spaced apart by spacers 57 which are pressed out of the web 21 at regular intervals and abut the rib 40 of the opposed side web 20. The flanges 22 and 23 may be welded at 61 to the cross members 12 and the members 11 may be connected at intervals along their upper edges by bridge welds 62. The structural members may also be assembled to form a nailable wall or ceiling.
