Field carriages.-Divided trail beams 5 are hinged at 4 to the vertical limbs of two Z-shaped members forming a cranked axle. The upper arms 1, 2 of the members carrying the wheels, and the lower arms 6, 7 revolve one within the other when the beams are set at different levels on uneven ground. The arm 6, which is in the form of a bearing for the arm, 7, carries a socket for the cross-head 8 in which the gun cradle is trunnioned. The arms 6, 7 may revolve freely or be under the control of adjusting and locking devices.
