Abstract

291,741. Svenska Aktiebolaget Bromsregulator. June 7, 1927, [Convention date]. Compensating for wear.-Relates to slack adjusting mechanism for brake rigging of the kind in which the spindle of the adjuster proper is rotated during the application stroke of the rigging by means of a friction clutch which slips when the stress in the rigging rises due to the application of the brakes and consists in arranging the spring by which the clutch is engaged to abut on the end of the adjuster spindle, the adjusting nut previously provided being dispensed with. As is in the known construction, a short shaft 2 is secured into the end 1 of the adjuster spindle proper to which it is secured by a pin 3, and a housing 9 rotatably mounted thereon carries a pawl 10 for engagement with a ratchet wheel 8 disposed between friction clutch members 5, 7 of which the member 5 is secured to the shaft 2, the two members being coupled by projections 6. The housing 9 is operatively connected to the brake rigging. The spring 13<a> by means of which the parts 5, 7, 8 are gripped together instead of abutting on an adjusting nut mounted on a screwed part of the shaft 2 abuts as shown upon the end of the spindle 1 thus ensuring in reassembling the device after repairs a constant tension in the spring.
