Abstract

291,223. Yates, H. J., Howlett & Co., Ltd., M., and Dolphin, J. May 24, 1927. Thermostats. A thermostat for controlling the supply of gas to the burners of a gas oven comprises a heat-sensitive element 7 projecting into the oven and operating a valve spindle 4 through one or a row of balls 6, or curved member or other device so that the valve spindle may be out of line with the thermostat. The valve member 3 is mounted on the spindle 4, and is guided by a slot 17 moving over a screw 16. An inlet opening is provided above the valve, and an outlet opening 9 below it, adjacent to a strainer 10 constructed as described in Specification 285,831. The upper end of the spindle 4 is non-circular, and is engaged by the slotted lower end of an operating spindle 11 carrying a knob 12 and pointer 13 moving over a scale 14. The ball race 5, Fig. 5, may be a partly circular slot in a disc mounted in the casing 2, secured by a screw 18 and cap 19.
