Abstract

290,774.. Berry, H. March 10, 1927. Lawn-mowers.-In order that the contents of the grass-box may be discharged without removing the box from the machine, one of the walls of the box is hinged and is connected with a hinged base plate, so that when the hinged wall is raised the base plate also rises and discharges the cut grass through the opening made by the movement of the hinged wall. The end wall a is shown hinged at a<1> and provided with an operating-arm g adapted to be actuated by a flexible connection h reaching to the handle of the machine. Parts of the side walls are fixed to the end wall a to move with it. The hinged discharge plate d is connected to the wall a by flexible connections f. In a modification, the side wall of the box is hinged so that the grass may be discharged at the side of the machine. According to one Provisional Specification the bottom of the box may be hinged to act as the discharge plate.
