Abstract

Feb. 13, 1927. kinematograph apparatus.-An unconnected series of bodies, such as lenses serving as optical compensations for film movement in continuous feed kinematograph apparatus, is moved through a closed path which includes a rectilinear section, by means of an internally toothed wheel; the bodies are received between the teeth of the wheel to be driven thereby, and are constrained into a rectilinear section forming a chord or diameter of the pitch circle of the wheel. As shown, lens casings 12 are housed in a channel formed in a thick disc 2 provided with a cover plate 3, and are surrounded by a wheel 6 having teeth 10 which project between them in the circular part of the channel. The lens casings are provided with flanges 13, 14 having flat edges engaging the sides of the channel, the other edges of the flanges being cut so as to facilitate the movement of the casings. Shields 15 are provided at opposite ends of alternate casings to blind the gaps between the casings as they pass across an exposure opening 17 in the rectilinear part of their path. The circular and rectilinear parts of the path are joined by curved transition paths 18, 19, of which the one 19 giving exit from the rectilinear path is longer than the other.
