Abstract

289,877. Aktiebolaget Atlas Diesel. May 6, 1927, [Convention date]. Springs; eccentric-actuated pumps; regulating delivery by opening bye-passes.-In a fuel &c. pump a plunger 15 is actuated by an eccentric or crank 17 trough a cross head 19 in which is slidably mounted a pin 23 pressed against the plunger by a spring 24 abutting on the end of the cross head. During the first part of the delivery stroke the spring 24 is compressed while the fuel pressure in the pump rises until the end of the crosshead engages the pin 23 and delivery through the valve 4 begins. Delivery is interrupted by the closing of a bye-pass valve 7 when an arm 9 is released by the raising of a spring-pressed rod 12 by an eccentrically-pivoted lever 11 operabed by the crosshead. The delivery valve has a pressure-reducing device 6 as described in the Specification 227,791 for preventing drip at the nozzle.
