Abstract

289,849. Mannesmannr÷hren-Werke. May 4, 1927, [Convention date]. Rolling.-In rolling-mills comprising two sets of rolls working alternately the rolls being reversed after each longitudinal movement of the work so that the work may be returned through the opened pass of the previously working rolls, the closing of the pass is effected by a hydraulically actuated sliding bar 3 linked at 5 to the upper roll bearings. Screw actuated wedges 10 are used for adjusting the pass. The upper roll bearings are supported by springs 9 which open the pass on release of the pressure from the cylinder 1 and the consequent return of the bar 3 under the action of a spring or equivalent agent. The lower, or both of the rolls may be moved to open or close the pass. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the use of toggle mechanism instead of the single links 5. This subejct-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
