April 19, 1927. stopping-devices for motor meters special quantities, registering. - An induction motor meter is provided with a mechanical latching- device for holding the movable element when the potential is below a predetermined value, which is released when the potential rises above this value. A two-rate meter is shown comprising a pair of induction motor meters 1, 2 having their current coils 6 connected in series and their potential coils 7 connected to a two-way selecting switch 15, which may be controlled by hand, by a time-switch, by a thermostat energized by the current in the potential coil, or electromagnetically by means of tuned circuits and impressed oscillations. Each meter is provided with a lever 8 pivoted at 9 and having a roughened or like end 10 which is pressed against the disc 3 to prevent rotation when the corresponding pressure magnet 4 is not energized, as shown in connection with the meter 2. The other end of the lever carries a soft iron portion 12 located in the field of the stray flux of the potential coil 7 which, when the corresponding coil is energized, causes the part 12 to be attracted to the core 4, thus permitting rotation of the disc 3 as shown in connection with the meter 1. A sheet of non-sticking material may be located at the face of the lever 8 or of the portion 12 to prevent sticking against the core 4.
