Boat-lowering gear.-Skates to facilitate the lowering of the boat down the hull comprise an upstanding iron 6 terminating in a bulb 7 which is curved so that the part of the skate bearing against the middle portion of the boat projects to the greatest extent, the upper part inclined inwards towards the centre of the boat, being secured to the gunwale by a screw 12 working in the casting 10 and bearing in a recess in the gunwale member 13. Filling blocks 8 are located on each side of the inner part of the iron 6.
