Abstract
287,436. Ellis, G. B., (American Sheet & Tin Plate Co.). Sept. 13, 1926. Cleaning.-In the manufacture of tinned plates, the plates pass through a, grease pot on to a conveyer B which delivers the plates to a washing vessel C which is filled with hot soda ash or alkaline solution. The plates pass through guides 14 and then through scrubbing or scouring rolls 15, 16. The lower of the pair of rolls 15 and the upper of the pair of rolls 16 are of smaller diameter than the other roll of the pair, so as to have a greater surface speed, and are provided with a covering 17 of fabric or rubber. The plates pass through squeezing rolls 19, 20, 21, the lower roll 19, the upper roll 20 and the lower roll 21 being of smaller diameter than the other roll and provided with a covering 22 of fabric or rubber. The plates pass on to a conveyer 23 which delivers them into a receptacle or to a branning machine. Specification 283,614 is referred to.
