Abstract
287,098. Harsanyi, E. March 14, 1927, [Convention date]. Wire, more particularly for use as thermionic cathodes of vacuum tubes, is made by electrophoretically depositing metals on platinum, nickel, or other cores from colloidal suspensions of metallic particles, drawing the coated wire, and repeating the deposition and drawing as required. The colloidal suspension may contain a single metal such as tungsten, a mixture of metals such as tungsten and titanium, or a mixture of metals and metal oxides or compounds, for instance, thoria and ceria. Electrolysis of the suspension is avoided.
