Abstract
285,703. Parkin, H. May 31, 1927. Lantern screens. -An anti-dazzle device for vehicle lamps comprises a tubular opaque screen D normally positioned in front of the light source C and adapted to be moved rearwardly so as to shut off part or the whole of the light falling on the reflector B. The screen D may be burnished or plated on its interior, and is connected to a rod E which passes through the reflector and is adapted to slide in bearings F in a bracket F<1> secured to the lamp casing A, a spring-stud R being provided to prevent vibration. A slot G in the rod E is engaged by a spring-biased lever H secured to a transverse rod J which is supported in bearings in brackets K preferably integral with the brackets F<1> of a pair of lamps. The screens of the two lamps are operated by a Bowden-wire L, connected at M to one of the levers Hand passing through a guide-hole P in a, canopy N which may be secured to or be formed integrally with the bracket F<1>.
