Abstract

Vibratory treatment.-In vibrating apparatus for screening, medical treatment, and other purposes, of the type in which the vibrations are produced by the rotation of an unbalanced pulley, the apparatus is supported on an axle through the intermediary of a spring or springs symmetrically disposed with respect to the axle. In the application to screening apparatus shown in Fig. 1, the screen frame a is secured to the ends c<1>, c<2> of a W-shaped spring, the central loop of which is attached to an axle d mounted in bearings in a pair of supports b<1>. The axle is adjustably fixed by an arm e to vary the inclination of the frame. In a modification the axle d may be connected rigidly to the screen frame, and the ends of the springs to the supporting structure. Another modification is shown in Fig. 4, in which two helical springs c<1>, c<2> are used. The vibrations of the screen frame are produced by unbalanced pulleys f<1> mounted on a shaft g carried by the frame. Adjustment of the degree of unbalance may be provided for, preferably by holes j into which different weights k may be inserted. For medical treament the frame is constructed as a support for the body of the patient.
