Abstract

285,309. Columbia Graphophone Co., Ltd., and Mitchell, F. A. July 16, 1927, Centrifugal speed-indicators of the type adapted to be carried by and revolve with the mechanism whose angular speed is to be indicated comprise an indicating arm attached to a weight, the weight being movable under centrifugal force about an axis approximately parallel to the axis of rotation of the mechanism. The invention is shown applied to a device for indicating the speed of a gramophone, a base-plate B having a hole to receive the spindle of the turntable. A weight D is pivoted at P to a bracket B<1> and moves against the action of an adjustable spring S to move an index J carried by the arm H under an aperture F in the cover C. In a modification, the index moves over a scale on the cover, or displays one of a number of colours to indicate when a particular speed has been reached. The weight D is also shown secured to a flat spring clamped to the casing, a screw bearing against the spring effecting adjustment. A spirit level may be incorporated in the cover.
