Tip-boxes and tip-buckets. - Relates to tip. buckets &c. in which the pivotal connection with the bail moves automatically when the bucket, either upright or inverted, is set down, to a position below -the centre of gravity, so that the bucket tips automatically when again lifted. As shown in Fig. 1, a weighted double hook 27 cooperating with pins 21c, 21d on the bucket is pivoted on the trunnion 5 which is carried on a slide block 23 moving between stops 21<a>, 21b on a guide 21 on the bucket. The arrangement may be duplicated at the other side of the bucket. When the bucket is set down, the member 27 swings clear of the pin 21<c> and the bail is lowered until the lower hook of the member 27 passes beneath the pin 21d. On lifting, the bucket tips about the trunnion 5 and when the inverted bucket is set down the parts move in the same manner so that the bucket is self-righting. In a modification, Fig. 1, hooks 27 engage beneath the end stops 21a, 21b. In these arrangements, the hooked arms act as tension-members between the bail and the bucket. As shown in Fig. 5, arms 27 pivoted on the bucket act substantially vertically as struts between the bucket and the slideblock 23, the arms being weighted to take the position shown and the block passing down between them. In a modification, Fig. 7, the pivoted strut 27 acts against a stop 23c on an arm 23d pivoted on the bucket at 1<a> and moving between stops 21e, 21f. With this arrangement the bucket tips in one direction only.
