Dec. 23. 1926- Mechanically released switches.-The insulating base 1 is secured to the casing 3 by being screwed on to shoulders 5 of a flange and carries three terminal plates 13 - - 15, of which 15 is arranged below the base 1, and 13, 15 are arranged to project past an opening 16 in the base. The plate 13 is formed with a hole 17 in which slides a metal stem 18 carrying the button 23, which in turn carries a plate 25 adapted to engage a spring contact 22 on the plate 14. The stem 18 is normally pressed outwards by a helical spring 26 subject to the action of a stop 27 thereon engaging the plate 13. Rotatable between the casing 3 and the cover 7 is a ring 39 provided with a notch 30 for engagement by a spring-controlled lever 31, which is pivoted at 33 and is adapted to latch the button 23 in its depressed position by moving under the flange 24 thereon. The plate 13 is a common terminal which. when the button is fully depressed, is electrically connected with plates 14, 15 by the plate 25 and a platinum contact 28, respectively, thus, for instance, lighting a lamp and ringing a bell. To unlock the button, the ring 39 is rotated to move the lever 31 outwards, clear of the flange 24. The switch could be arranged to retract slightly so as to break contact at 28, 15 before being locked, unlocking to open contacts 25, 22 being then effected by rotating the ring 39. The plate could be arranged to co-operate with a plurality of spring contacts.
