Abstract
284,652. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Feb. 2, 1927, [Convention date]. Azo dyes:-Artificial silk made from esters or ethers of cellulose or its conversion products, is dyed by means of azo dyes, containing not more than one sulphonic or carboxylic group, obtained by coupling diazo compounds with substituted or unsubstituted cyclic compounds of the kind comprising a benzene nucleus condensed with a five-membered heterocyclic ring. of which one hydrogen atom can react with the diazo compound. Examples of such cyclic compounds are #-ketocumarane, oxindole, oxythionaphthene, 3- oxy-1-sulphonenaphthene, and methylketol. In examples (1) acetate silk is dyed in fast, non- phototropic yellow shades in a dye-bath made up by dissolving the ammonium salt of the dyestuff from sulphanilic acid and methylketol in hot water; the dyestuff from 6-chlor-2-toluidine and methylhetol sulphonic acid may also be used, (2) the dyestuff from 2 : 5-dichloraniline and methylketol, dissolved with the addition of MarseilLes soap, dyes acetate silk a pure yellow fast to washing and chlorine, (3) the dyestuff from aniline-o-sulphonic acid and 3-oxythionenaphthene or 3-oxy- 1-sulphonenaphthene dye acetate silk in fast orange and greenish-yellow shades respectively, and (4) the dyestuff from 6-chlor-2-toluidine and oxindole-6-sulphonic acid dyes acetate silk a clear greenish-yellow shade.
