Chimneys; ventilating-shaft tops.-The outer casing of a ship's funnel or ventilating- cowl is a non-perforated rigid body, the horizontal cross-section of which is parabolic at its front part and converges rearwardly to a point or curve of small radius and the greatest width being one-third of the whole length of the section from the front. A rotatable head may be provided. The drawing shows a funnel enclosed by the improved form of casing.
