Abstract
284,249. Flesch, H., (Assignee of Farb-und Gerbstoffwerke G. Flesch). Jan. 26, 1927, [Convention date]. Carbonizing fabrics; yarns, mercerizing; yarns, treating with liquids.-The wetting and penetrative capacity, cleansing and washing action, distributive action, and the capacity for emulsifying substances and solutions can be improved in processes of the textile industry in which concentrated acids, alkaline liquors, and saline solutions are employed, by the addition thereto of highly sulphonated oils such as the sulphuric esters of dioxystearic acids described by Grun and Woldenberg (Zentralblatt, 1909, p. 1749), having a content of 6 per cent and over of organically combined sulphuric acids. Turkey red oils and similar sulphonated oils such as are described in German Patent 113,433 are salted out and partially decomposed under similar conditions. Carbonizing and mercerizing liquors and dressings and finishes containing a large proportion of magnesium sulphate are mentioned as examples suitable for the application of highly sulphonated oils, which may be used either alone or in association with aliphatic, aromatic, and hydroaromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, esters, ketones, and also chlorinated hydrocarbons. Specifications 263,117; 282,626 and 287,076, [both in Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], are referred to.
