Abstract
283,942. Lacks, F. A., (Assignee of Kennedy, E. C.). Jan. 21, 1927, [Convention date]. Women's hats. - A process of making a knitted or crocheted hat consists of first constructing one side of the hat having selvedged parallel edges 12, 13 as well as unselvedged connecting edges 9, 10, 14, the latter being formed by casting off the end loops and holding them, and then forming a corresponding side C by continuing the operation in reverse order, and simultaneously connecting both sides to each other by interknitting or crocheting the loops of the unselvedged edges with the end loops of corresponding courses of the side C during the forming of the same. Preferably, a single strand of straw, silk, or wool is used. The selvedged edges 12, 13 may be sewn together.
