Couplings.-An electric resistance for grid leaks, couplings for resistance amplification &c. is moulded from a plastic mixture of a conducting material, such as silicon carbide, and a non-conducting material, such as clay, calcined, and soaked in a waterproofing material of a high dielectric constant, such as paraffin, ceresin or wax. The material is formed into a rod with bevelLed ends which are rubbed on a rotating wheel of lead or other soft metal, so that they receive a coating of the metal, metal end caps being then forced on to them to form terminals.
