Abstract
282,686. Krakowski, V. Dec. 22, 1926, [Convention date]. Templets for drawing conic sections have a parabolic edge a, hyperbolic edges b and an elliptical aperture e. The templet is marked with a central line which is an axis of all the curves and is also marked with pinholes from which other information relative to the curves is obtainable. Thus the point k is the focus of the parabola, the points h, h<1> lie at the intersections of the major axis of the ellipse with the directrices, and the foci are obtained by joining points l, L and m, m. Marks n represent the extremities of a pair of conjugate diameters. The point o is the centre of the hyperbola and the asymptotes are obtained by joining this point to the lower points l. m. The points i, i<1> represent the intersections of the axis of the hyperbola with its directrices, and the foci lie on the lines l l, m m produced. The upper part of the templet is marked with a protractor scale f, and the lower straight edge c is graduated.
