Abstract

Lighting systems; electromagnetic switches; controlling consuming devices supplied from variable-speed generators.-Auxiliary lamps, such as embarkation lamps, are controlled by a switch combined with the change-over switch of a twobattery installation. A casing d is secured above the solenoid casing a of an electromagnetic switch for changing the battery connections each time the train starts. Two spring controlled switch arms f with interengaging ends are pivoted on separate terminal brackets insulated from but secured in the casing d, and a non-magnetic rod l carries two insulating rollers n normally clear of the switch arms. The lower end of the rod l lies in the path of the movable core of the switch and upon energization of the solenoid the rollers n force the arms f apart and open the auxiliary lamp circuit. A strip p of insulating material secured at its ends to the terminal brackets prevents the head m carrying the roller n from turning. A removable cover e is fitted.
