Abstract

Ventilators. - A hopper ventilator D is hinged in the upper part of the upper sliding sash A of a window or in the upper part of a door in such a manner that when closed it lies entirely within the thickness of the sash or door, and the side wings consist either of triangular - shaped pieces of wood, glass, metal &c. or of fan blades F pivoted together and having interengaging stop members M, N at their extremities as shown in Fig. 5. Closing members I are provided on the ventilator to engage the blades F'. The ventilator, which may be framed in wood or metal, is hinged to a bar extending across the upper sash. The lower edge of the ventilator, when closed, may overlap the adjacent surface of the window glass, and in this case the cross-bar may be dispensed with and the ventilator be hinged on bolts E projecting from the side members of the sash. A spring catch J, provided at the top of the ventilator, is adapted to be operated by a wire, cord &c. K which opens the ventilator, and another wire L, passing through eyes M, N, is adapted for closing the' ventilator.
