Abstract

278,603. Siemens Schuckertwerke Ges., and Mackenrodt, K. April 9, 1927. Vacuum-cleaners.-A portable electric vacuum cleaner for collecting waste textile materials &c. comprises a sack 7 for the material drawn in, disposed in a receiver 2 on the suction side of the fan 12 and a suction pipe connected to the lid 3 of the receiver by a funnel-shaped connecting member 5 having a flared end to which the bag may be removably attached. The funnel edge may be covered with fabric to facilitate attachment of the sack. The sack is surrounded by a wire sieve 8. The suction pipe, connection 6 is conical so that it may readily be swivelled about the vertical or removed for replacement of other hose pipes. The fan outlet union 13 carries an attachment 18 with a flared mouth directing the air towards the wall of the receiver. This attachment may be replaced by a second filter bag; or a bag may be disposed around the sack within the wire sieve 8. The attachment 18 may also be replaced by a hose connection by which air may be supplied to loosen the material. The motor covering may be provided with a flat top on which spare sacks may be carried. The filling of the sack may be indicated by a manometer on the suction pipe.
