Abstract

278,484. Linotype & Machinery, Ltd., and Larkin, W. C. Aug. 24, 1926. Casting rollers.-A star or holder for supporting the stocks of inking-rollers in a mould for casting the roller composition about the stocks, is provided with radially adjustable jaws for accurately centreing the stocks within the mould cylinder. In one form, Fig. 1, a body portion 3, having radial arms 14 fused with lead to engage the inner surface of the mould cylinder X, is provided with three radially movable jaws 1 which are forced inwardly to grip and centre the stock Y, by the axial movement of members 6 having inclined ends 5 engaging inclined ends 4 on the jaws. The members 6 are secured to or integral with a ring 7 operated by a nut 9 screwed on an extension 8 of the body 3. The inward movement of the jaws is limited by a stud 12 engaging the closed end of a groove 13 in the member 6. In a modification, Fig. 4, the arms 14 are also provided with outwardly-moving jaws 16 constructed and operated in a similar manner to the jaws 1 so as to allow the device to be used in moulds of different diameter.
