Abstract

277,973. International General Electric Co., Inc., (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.). Sept. 21, 1926, [Convention date]. Cut-out arrangements.-A three-phase system T, S. R is protected on all three phases by a single current transformer b provided with two primary windings r, s wound in the same direction, one connected in each of two of the phases R, S, and a secondary winding c connected with a hot wire d. If excess current appears in either of the phases R, S, or if one of these phases is interrupted with the resulting increase of current in the other phase, the increased current in the secondary expands the wire d which opens at e the circuit of a no-volt retaining magnet f and trips the circuit-breaker. If, however, the phase T is interrupted, the single-phase current in the other two phases through the windings r, s cancel one another and there is no current in the secondary. But, in this case, a consequent pole will be formed at p which will attract the pivoted armature g and break the circuit of the no-volt retaining magnet at i.
