Abstract

277,750. Dodwell, W. H., and Dunning, W. G. June 24, 1926. Disinfecting-chambers.-Clothes and other materials are disinfected or sterilized by treatment in a container 1 by hot air or by disinfectant vaporized in a recess 2 by an internal electric heater 15 or by a gas or spirit burner 13. The clothes are suspended in a cradle 4 having a perforated bottom and handle 5 and are protected from the radiant heat by screens 16 supported on legs 17. The container 1 may have an outer jacket 6 with outlets 7 and is adapted to be closed by a cover 8 secured by cleats and swivelling bolts 10 and handled nuts 11. The disinfectant is introduced from a container 20 by a tube 21 and stop cock 22. Boiling disinfectant may be supplied by a vessel 23, pipe 26, and tap 27. In some cases the air may be partially exhausted by an air pump 3. Specification 7170/15 is referred to.
