Drilling brush stocks.-A horizontal table adapted to be rotated at intervals on a vertical axis through a predetermined angle is provided with brush stock holding devices which, when the table is at rest, are moved in steps about horiontal and vertical axes to position the stocks for operation thereon of drilling and filling tools. As shown, the movement of the stocks is controlled by a cam shaft 10 driven intermittently by worm gearing from a worm wheel 11 on the shaft of the bristle-filling machine, which is driven bv an electric motor. The table 2 is driven intermittently by worm gearing from a second electric motor. The cam 15 acts upon a roller 17 to raise a sleeve 18 and a platform 19 whereby spindles 20 are moved upwardly and cause anvils 7 carrying the brush stocks to move about horizontal axes 23. Movement about vertical axes is effected by a cam 16 acting on a roller 25 to actuate a stem 28 carrying an archimedean screw 29 which engages a spider 30 pivoted at 31 to the stock-holders 5. The two motors A, B for driving, respectively, the cam shaft 10 and the table 2 are connected as shown in Fig. 5, so that the starting of one motor occurs simultaneously with the stopping of the other. A contact wheel d rotating with the shaft 10 carries a contact d<1> in circuit with the main line L<1> and an element c<1>. At the end of a revolution of the shaft 10 the contact d<1> engages a brush contact d<2> and at the same time the element c' engages an element c<2> to open a switch c<3>. The table 2 rotated by the motor B is provided with contacts g<2> for engagement with brush contacts g<1> and elements k<1> for engagement with an element k<2> to open a switch k<3>. Electromagnetic switches e and h are provided as shown. When the motor M is momentarily closed the motor A is actuated to rotate the shaft 10, which after a complete revolution opens the circuit of the motor A and closes the circuit of the motor B whereby the table is caused to rotate. When the table has completed a quarter of a revolution the circuit of the motor B is opened. The operations may be repeated by again closing the switch M. Means may be provided for continuing the operations indefinitely so long as the switch M is kept closed.
