Cabinets.-A device for filing documents, gramophone records, music, &c. comprises a number of partitions 3, Fig. 1, loosely suspended from rails 2 and threaded by means of slots 7 on flexible strips 6 forming the bottom of the file. The upper edges of the partitions 3 have slots 4 through which pass the horizontal rails 2 which have downwardly-bent ends 2a joined by horizontal portions 5 to which the ends of the strips 6 are secured, the resilience of the frame so formed serving to keep the strips. 6 taut. Cords 8 or double-headed pins limit the movement of the partitions 3, which, in the latter case may be made of metal and supported by strips 6 of heavy cotton fabric. When the partitions are made of cardboard, cloth or similar material, a metal strip 21, Fig. 7, is secured across the upper edge of the partition and the slots 7 are constituted by eyelets 22. The partitions may be formed with two leaves as shown or as a single shet. Hooks or flat projections may take the place of the slots 4, and notches may be provided on the upper edges of the rails 2 to receive the hooks. The rails 2 may be at different levels, the upper edges of the partitions being inclined correspondingly. The device is adapted for insertion in a drawer of a cabinet, and so that the bottoms of the partitions 3 do not touch the bottom of the drawer when the file is empty, the rails 2 being slightly arched for this purpose. When the documents are inserted in the file, the strips 6 sag, and the bottom of the drawer takes the weight of the documents. For fragile articles such as gramophone records, the strips 6 are supported at a height sufficient to prevent contact of the articles with the bottom.
