Compound sheet materials.-In roofing material of the kind comprising one or more layers of roofing felt, tarred paper or similar material incorporated by pressing with one or more layers of wire mesh or netting or like metal reinforcement, the latter is secured in place by wire pins, staples, or like fastenings adapted to bind the layers together during the pressing. The wire netting or mesh may be formed with wires or pins passed through the twists forming the mesh and projecting at right-angles, which in pressing penetrate the layers of felt and are turned down and rolled into the outer surface of the latter; or the pins or wires may be incorporated with a layer of felt, their length being determined by the number of layers to be secured together.
