Abstract
275,293. Rheostatic Co., Ltd., and Satchwell, L. April 10, 1926. Protective arrangements.-Electric resistances, for example earthing resistances of supply networks, are protected against excess heating by connecting up three sections of them with an auxiliary section of higher or lower temperature coefficient in the form of a Wheatstone bridge, a cut-out relay being connected across the usual galvanometer connection of the bridge. In the construction shown a section D<1> of the grid resistance is of material of lower temperature coefficient than the remainder. This section is connected up with three ordinary sections to constitute a bridge and the protective relay E' is connected as shown. When the resistance reaches a predetermined temperature, the resulting out-of-balance is adequate to operate the relay and cut the whole resistance out of circuit.
