Abstract

Humidity and temperature, controlling; air, controlling direction of flow of. - Ceramic articles &c. are supported upon trucks in a drying chamber 1 through which air of a predetermined temperature and humidity is circulated, the direction of circulation being reversed periodically. Atmospheric air is forced by a fan 19 through a heater 20 and a humidifier 21 into a duct 22 connected to damper-controlled passages 23, 24 which communicate respectively with transversaly disposed reversible circulating fans 28 and ducts 12. The interconnected dampers 25, 26 controlling the passages, and the control of the direction of rotation of the fans are regulated simultaneously through link mechanism 27 and a regulator 30 respectively disposed in an operating cabin 33; the direction of rotation of the fan being shown upon an indicator 31 in the cabin. Dampers 13, 14, 15, operated simultaneously through mechanism 16 in the cabin, are provided to control the discharge of moisture-laden air from, and the admission of fresh air to, the circulating air. The temperature and humidity of the circulating air are shown on a dial disposed in the cabin and connected to a psychrometer located in the path of the air. In a modification, two drying chambers are arranged end to end.
