Abstract

Conveying apparatus; trimming and spreading apparatus; portable endless-belt conveyers ; feeding devices; directing and adjustably supporting; driving gear.-A portable endless-belt conveyer 1 is used in conjunction with an auxiliary endless-belt conveyer 17 for delivering material from a heap to a vehicle or for similar purposes, and is provided with a bucket conveyer 10 or other feed device at the lower end mounted on links, rollers, &c. so as to move freely in a direction substantially parallel to the conveyer and to rest on the heap at different heights above the ground and dig into the material by its own weight. As shown, the bucket conveyer 10 is carried on parallel links 11 pivoted on the frame of the conveyer 1 and raised by a winch 12. In use the conveyer 10 is raised, the end of the conveyer 1 is forced into the heap, and the conveyer 10 is then lowered as far as necessary. The lower shaft of the conveyer 10 is provided with lateral feeding screws 15. The conveyer 1 is pivoted on its frame at 5 and raised for transport by gearing including a toothed rack 7. In this position wheels 13 on the bucket conveyer rest upon theground. The conveyer 1 may be kept in a fixed position while the material is spread in a wagon A by means of the auxiliary conveyer 17. The latter is adjustable about a horizontal axis 20 and also about the vertical column 16, and is carried on a truck 18 which may be attached to the truck of the conveyer 1 by a towing connection. The conveyers 1 and 17 are driven by separate motors 9, 22, and the circuits may be connected by a plug-in switch for starting simultaneously. The conveyer 17 is provided with a counterweight 23 and a locking-pin. The conveyer 1 delivers to a hopper mounted above the column 16. If the material is to be screened, the hopper is provided with a perforated inner wall 25 and a double conical baffle 24 with perforated upper wall. Separate outlets 26, 29 for coarse and fine material deliver to the conveyer belt and to a throw-off belt conveyer 30 respectively. The conveyer 30 is pivotally mounted at 31 and the lower roller 32 rests upon and is driven by the conveyer belt 17.
